MORE INFORMATION ON RUSTY
Rusty arrived in the UK in November 2020 and has been living life as a pet in a home. Sadly, due to life circumstances he is currently in foster and looking for a forever home of his own. This is what his foster has to say about him:
“Having Rusty as a foster has been an absolute pleasure!. He is such an affectionate little chap with a big personality to go with it! He loves everyone he meets and would make a fantastic companion. He is very loyal and loves to be in your company and will dutifully follow you around the house to stay by your side. This little chap deserves the security of a loving home and will make the best of friends for the right family - as he certainly deserves it bless his heart.”
Rusty is very affectionate with his humans and a really lovely sweet chap in the home but certain things can trigger some anxieties. He needs a nice calm home with routine that can help him work through these triggers. He’s eager to please and we believe with consistency and commitment, he will do brilliantly.
He does walk well on a lead but his prey drive is quite high and he can be reactive to other dogs, and larger vehicles when out on walks. He really struggles with fireworks and can find other loud noises a little startling - but these are all things the HFP team can work with any adopter on to help him continue to thrive.
Rusty has so many positives - he travels well in the car, he is fine with strangers, settles well in the home where he enjoys snoozing his day away, and can be left for up to 3-4 hours at a time. He loves a fuss and is very trainable - he loves treats and knows basic commands already like sit, paw etc. His anxieties have caused him to sometimes not make the best decisions when it comes ro his reactivity with other dogs, so he will need additional training to help manage this, which he is why he needs to wear a muzzle and remain on lead when out on walks.
Rusty is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. He is passported and available for adoption now.
