MORE INFORMATION ON QUIJOTE
Quijote was found as a little puppy on the street and taken into a kind foster home, however he couldn’t stay there permanently and sadly ended up in a pererra where he was put in a kennel with another uncastrated boy and an unneutered girl which meant there was lots of fights and he had been bitten many times. Our partners found him very thin, with wounds and sore eyes.
Since then he has moved to a foster home and much calmer environment where he has really blossomed both in health and personality. He put on weight, his wounds have healed and his spirit is slowly returning although he still has some sad moments. Like many podencos, he is a little aloof at first, but does warm up and soon learns to trust. Once you have gained that, he’ll sit and wait for you to put his harness on and loves to hold hands/paws with you and enjoy a fuss. He’s the happiest little soul once you return from being out and about but does still have nervous moments. We know that in time, these will disappear but they are understandable given his past. He is good with other well balanced dogs and has formed a particularly lovely relationship with playful little Princess who is under half his size! They will snuggle up together and enjoy playing too. Quijote is a foodie and will try to steal food from other dogs given the chance, so this will need to be managed in a multidog home. He does get on with other dogs but can sometimes be a little bossy so would need a well balanced companion. For a patient owner, we think Quijote would also be OK as an only dog. He would benefit from a garden whilst he adjusts to a new environment and would not be as good in a really busy city. Can you wipe the sadness from Quijote’s eyes for good by offering him a loving home?
Quijote has been neutered, is vaccinated and will be tested for all Mediterranean diseases. He is passported and available for adoption now.
