MORE INFORMATION ON MARIE
Marie was originally bought over from Portugal by an adopter without the help of a rescue. She is a Portuguese Podengo - very similar to Podencos and dogs that face the same treatment in Portugal as the Pods do in Spain. Once her adopter got her home, it became clear that she wasn’t able to meet the needs of a young Podengo puppy and so she reached out to someone local who works in the field of rescue for help. They then contacted us as a breed expert and we have agreed to step in to support Marie on the next leg of her journey. She is currently in foster in Suffolk and is available for meet and greets.
She is a little aloof and submissive when she first meets new people as is so common for many Pods, but she soon warms up and is a happy and cheeky little puppy who is curious and enjoys a fuss. She is looking for an adopter who can continue working with her through puppyhood and adolescence to continue to build her confidence. Another well balanced confident dog (or more) in the home would be a real help but we also think she could be an only dog. She has formed a wonderful bond with her foster and we’d expect the same to happen in an adoptive home too. She is used to walking on a lead and is inquisitive when out and about. We think she would be a good candidate for a family with respectful children 6+.
Marie is vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. She is passported and available for adoption now, and will need to be neutered at the appropriate age
