MORE INFORMATION ON KORA
Kora is beautiful, small-to-medium-sized Podenco with a lovely feathered coat and a cheerful, friendly nature. She came into rescue after her hunter no longer wanted her following an injury to her eye. Her rescuers told us that her life was at risk, and later veterinary investigations revealed nine shotgun pellets in her body. Despite everything she has experienced, her carers describe her as a happy, confident girl who shows no obvious fear of people.
She enjoys human company and was particularly taken with a volunteer’s 11-year-old niece, following her around during her visit to the shelter. A such we think she could live with respectful children. She also walks very well on the lead. There is so much more to Kora than her difficult start, and we would love to see her enjoying walks, home comforts and the companionship of a family of her own.
Shortly after her arrival, her carers discovered that Kora was pregnant. She gave birth to four puppies, but heartbreakingly, three have since passed away. Kora and her remaining puppy continue to be cared for by the team.
Kora has been assessed by an eye specialist, who diagnosed a displaced lens caused by trauma. The recommendation is to remove the affected eye when she is spayed, and she is receiving prescribed eye treatment in the meantime. We will keep prospective adopters updated on her treatment and any ongoing care needs.
We think given Kora’s lovely temperament, that she could live in a variety of homes - either with other dogs or as an only dog. She has no specific requirements in a home - only to be loved and cared for after a difficult start.
Kora will be neutered, is vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. She is passported and available for adoption now.
