MORE INFORMATION ON KIARA
Kiara was abandoned by her hunter when she was no longer of use and left to fend for herself on the streets in the area of Moron, she was very thin and very scared when she was rescued back in October 2021. Sadly this is where she has remained, as is common for many podencos in local rescues, they are overlooked no matter how hard the associations try to get them seen. She is loved and cared for, but years living kennell life has left her a little shy of humans and in much need of a home to call her own.
Kiara walks well on the lead locally, although we think would need some work getting used to busier streets and roads. She needs a garden as she enjoys being outside and is used to having this space, after years in a kennel set up she will need some time to adjust to life as a pet. The team recently when to visit her and she showed a lot of curiosity and interest but was a little too shy to approach for a fuss. That being said she will let people stroke her and has built strong bonds with the incredible volunteers who care for her.
We think a home with older children and adults would be the best match for her, she can still be a little startled and could find the unpredictability of young children a little overwhelming. She really enjoys the company of other dogs and her kennel buddy Luna definitely helped with her confidence so she will need a another doggy in the home. She can bond just as well with men and women as long as she is given patience and space in the settling period to take her time to adjust to life in a home.
As you can see form her pictures Kiara is carrying a little extra weight, whilst she has no health concerns she is currently on a weight management programme to help her loose the extra pounds and this would need to continue in her foster or forever home.
Kiara is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. She is passported and available for adoption now.
