MORE INFORMATION ON LUCIE
Lucie was found wandering the streets and we believe she may have been used for breeding before ending up in a shelter. Sadly she spent around a year confined there without the correct level of care. During that time, painful dental disease was left untreated, along with cherry eye.
When Lucie finally joined our partner rescue, she immediately received the treatment she needed, including dental surgery to remove a severely infected tooth with a decomposed root. Despite everything she had endured, her sweet trusting personality never faded. Within days she was back to smiling, wagging her tail and enjoying life.
She is a truly special girl and one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart. She has an incredibly gentle, sensible nature who has embraced home life with remarkable ease. She settled beautifully into foster care, fitting seamlessly into the resident pack from day one. She is wonderfully easy going with other dogs, loves people and is happiest when she can be close by to her humans. She has all the affection and loyalty of a Podenco, balanced with the calm confidence that often comes with maturity.
She is fantastic with children and has a lovely, gentle manner around them. The only thing to bear in mind is that Lucie is a large, powerful hunting dog with a strong pay drive. On walks she with enthusiastically launch herself towards the nearest movement, whether thats a lizard, mouse or grasshopper, so an adult will need to be responsible for walking her.
Lucie would thrive in a rural or semi rural home with plenty of opportunities to explore. She absolutely loves being outdoors and would make an excellent companion for someone who enjoys long countryside walks. Once she has had a chance to stretch her legs she is content to relax and enjoy home comforts.
She met a colony of street cats and was quite bemused and a little wary, so we are classing her as cat workable for dog savvy cats with careful introductions.
Lucie is neutered and vaccinated and is tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. She is passported and available for adoption now.
