MORE INFORMATION ON DEMI
Demi is a sweet, gentle young Podenco who has already come such a long way since arriving in foster in May 2026 alongside seven other Podencos and ten puppies. At that point, Demi was completely shut down and frightened of being touched. Since then, she has slowly started to realise that life can be safe and comfortable, although she is still shy and reserved with people and will need a patient home that allows her to continue building her confidence at her own pace.
Being in foster means Demi is getting some really valuable experience of living in a home. She absolutely loves being indoors and has already discovered the joys of the sofa! She currently lives with lots of other dogs of different sizes, ages and personalities and is playful and comfortable around them. We think having another confident, friendly dog in her new home could be really helpful for her.
Demi is still learning to walk on a lead. She will walk when she has other dogs alongside her, but isn't yet confident enough to manage solo walks, so this is something her adopters will need to work on gradually with her. Her fosterer describes her hunting instinct as low from what they have seen so far. She is around 80% housetrained and isn't particularly food orientated.
Demi won't be the dog who arrives and immediately knows how to navigate her new life. She will need time, patience and understanding while she learns to trust. But considering how frightened she was when she arrived in rescue, the progress she has already made is really encouraging. With the right home and another friendly dog to show her the way, we think this lovely little girl will continue to blossom.
Demi is neutered, vaccinated and tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases excluding Babesia and Ehrlichiosis - as already stated she has tested positive and is receiving treatment for this, so we can retest for the all clear. She is passported and available for adoption now.
