MORE INFORMATION ON LENIE
Lenie was found in a pererra on Fuerteventura after being given up as she was not considered good for hunting. Like many hunting dogs, she doesn’t seem to have spent much time in the company of humans.
This meant she was very mistrusting and shy initially, and can still be aloof around strangers, but with every day that goes by, her curious streak really starts to show and she is learning to enjoy the company of people, and fuss and affection. She is a really sweet girl who has formed a lovely bond with Jelle. We do think she’d benefit from another dog in the home to learn from - it will really help her to come out of her shell and relax. A home with a garden would be a benefit for Lenie as she is not currently able to get any practice on a lead and harness, and it means that any adopter can take it slowly in the comfort of their own garden and it also allows her time to adjust without needing to leave the home for a bit once she arrives as we expect she’ll be quite nervous initially.
Lenie has now made the trip from Fuerteventura to mainland Spain and is living a hybrid kennel/foster set up meaning she gets to spend lots of her time around different volunteers, and in a home set up where she is adjusting to all the things that come with living in a home. This really helps set her up for the transition to a permanent home.
Lenie is neutered, vaccinated and has tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases. She is passported and available for adoption now.
