Babu is a gentle, affectionate Podenco who forms deep bonds with his humans and thrives in a calm, predictable home.
He is such a wonderful boy and we don’t understand why he is being overlooked, so we have built a page just for him!
What is life with Babu like?
“Babu is a lovely boy who shows real loyalty and affection once he gets to know you.
In the home he likes to wander around and settles very quickly, enjoying being near people. His favourite place for sleeping and downtime is his crate, and he will happily lie there watching the world go by. That being said, he does love his walks too.
He can be a little unsure at times, but with consistency and a calm approach he really thrives and settles into a routine.
Babu loves being fussed, especially around his neck and ears, and will come and put his head in your lap just to be close. On a day-to-day basis he is wonderful company and just wants to be loved.”
Babu is affectionate
Babu is an affectionate boy, even if a little aloof sometimes - which is not out of character for some podencos!
But he loves a gentle fuss and seeks out his humans, gently laying his head in your lap to let you know - its time!
Babu is smart
Babu has excelled at training and this has really helped give him focus and learn to cope with his anxieties around food and reactivity on the lead.
He is particularly motivated by food which is a great resource when working with him.
Babu loves the outside world
Babu loves being out and about on walks, exploring and sniffing as he goes.
He does walk well on a lead in nice quiet areas, but can be a little reactive still to other dogs.
Babu loves down time
Babu loves his crate and happily takes himself off in the evening for some quiet time. He likes his crate to be in the same room as his humans so he can keep track of the goings on in the home!

Meet and Greets for Babu are a must, he is currently based on Leeds and available for met and greets! Your own location is not an issue as the HFP team can help facilitate any transport required.

Yes Babu can live with another well balanced adult dog, to help give him confidence but also understand his need for space and downtime.

Babu is not suitable for a home with children - over 16s only please.

Babu is not suitable for a home with cats.

Yes, Babu knows where to do his business, a garden a must for him!

Yes Babu can be left for a few hours no problem and loves his crate.

Babu is great in the car and travels well.

Babu walks well on the lead but needs to live in a quiet area where his walks can be calm and relaxed.
He can be reactive to other dogs still when on a lead, but is receiving ongoing training for this and is responding well.
