What is life with Babu like?
“Babu is a lovely boy who shows real loyalty and affection once he gets to know you.
In the home he settles very quickly and enjoys being close to his people. His favourite place for sleeping and downtime is his crate, where he happily watches the world go by.
He can be a little unsure at times, but with consistency and a calm approach he really thrives and settles into a routine.
Babu loves being fussed, especially around his neck and ears, and will often come and gently rest his head in your lap just to be close.
On a day-to-day basis he is wonderful company and really just wants to feel safe, loved and part of the home.”
Babu loves the outside world
Babu loves being out exploring the world, enjoying walks where he can sniff and take everything in at his own pace.
He walks nicely on lead in quieter areas, although he can still become a little vocal or overwhelmed around some dogs.
Babu is affectionate
Babu is an affectionate boy, even if he can sometimes take a little time to fully show it — which is very normal for many podencos.
Once comfortable, he loves gentle fuss and seeks out his humans, softly resting his head in your lap when he wants affection.
Babu is smart
Babu is a clever boy who has responded brilliantly to training and structure.
He enjoys learning, is very food motivated and has made great progress with calm guidance and consistency around both food and lead walking.
Babu loves down time
Babu loves his crate and happily takes himself off for some quiet time in the evenings.
He prefers his crate to be near his humans so he can relax while still feeling part of the home.

Yes. Due to changing family circumstances, Babu will need to move to his next foster or forever home before 11th July 2026.
We are hoping to have a placement lined up before then to allow for meet-and-greets and a gradual transition.

Because Babu bonds closely with his people, we are taking introductions slowly and thoughtfully. At least two meet-and-greets will be required before placement.
Babu is currently based near Doncaster and the HFP team can help facilitate introductions and transport where needed.

He can be reactive to other dogs still when on a lead, but is receiving ongoing training for this and is responding well.

Babu is currently living in the UK and looking for a home here, so he will come under our rehoming fee. - £340 (if no transport required).
